GENERA Ir-Tho slorm , which started out
In the state yesterday and which reached
here last night , evidently Interfered with
the loading and shipment of stock , an there
was very little stuff In. This morning there
was a high wind blowing , with the ther
mometer down to zero , or below , with the
air full of drifting snow , so that no one
ventured out who was not obliged to go.
H wns a very poor day for a market nnd
It was fortunate Unit there was BO little
stock here1. The few trains In were late In
arilvlng and the stock eme ; straggling lu
all the forenoon , SQ that nt no time was
there enough stuff on sale to really make
a market.
CATTLE The storm wns so severe and
there were so few cattle that It was late
before buyers were out. Besides that many
of the trains were late , IIH noted above , so
t.hnt It W H after the middle of the forenoon
before buyers attempted to do anything.
The tr.iele could hardly be called a market ,
as there were , not enough e-attle to really
establish quotations. Chicago came lower
nnd had there been any great uumlier of
cattle In the yards the market here would
undoubtedly have been lower. As It was the
few cattle here sold , If anything , stronger
than yesterday.
Th" feeling among operators regarding
the future of the cattle market appears to
b& bearish and the opinion seems jo be
gaining ground that packers are determined
to noiind down the market. At the same
lime R Is pointed out that while fat eattle
ate no higher than a year ago ihe product
Is bringing considerably more than It was
a year ago.
There were a few cows and heifers In the
yards this morning and buyers seemed to
want that kind of cattle , which sold eiulte
readily as a rule at strong yesterday prices.
There Is a good demand for cow stuff right
along , while the mipply Is light.
There was practically nothing doing In
stockers or feeders. Representative sales :

The sn.iw came early that winter and the
snowstorms were heavier than usual. One >

far before It was clear that we must have-
two engines or there was no telling when
we would get through. Well , the extra en-

wondering when It would ever stop.Vc
were running through level country , where
the snow line ! been blown away by the
