Tbo board got a bid the lowest of any price it boa paid yet , and 25 cents lower than the / price paid by the school board. This was the bid of Victor White , otteri ig to futulah 300 tons of Scranton , Pa. , anthracite tor ; 6,50. Last year the board paid ; 7,45. White t therefore aecurcd the contract. Th'3 other bids wore : C , W. Itolcomb , ; 6.641 Nebraska I'del'company , $ & 85 ; Coal 11111 company , $6,62 , and C. D + havens , $6.87. i No award was made for the seventy'Ove foot steel brldgo over the creek on Center street. The bids were : C. E. 1i. Campbell , $1,830 ; Canton Bridge company , $1,675 : ' Wrought Iron ilridge company , $1,825 ; A. J. .1 Tullock , ; 1,700 ; Farnsworth & Blodgett , $1,850 ; ltansas Bridge company , $1,703 ; J , R , Sheely & Co ; 1,749.60 , and Ii , B , Mayo , $1,939. That of the Canton Bridge company was recognized as the lowest , but the matter will not be noted on t until Tuesday morning. Bids for a culvert were also read , but it la the opinion of President IIerstead and Mr. Harlo of tbo t road and brldgo committees , generally acquiesced - quiesced In by the other commissioners , that a culvert would be more expenelve , costing r , probably $2,600 or more , and less satisfactory - tory , besides being in constant danger of o . freshets , whereas a bridge will be a much better and safer Investment as a road fm- For the grading , Cash Brothers received M the contract for road 49 B at 8.7 cents per yard , and D. Hannon , 26 D , at 8,24 cents , i they being the lowest bids according to the tabulation of the road committee. ttt ' Regarding tbo request of the park board that the county board put a newer in at the Twentieth street boulevard , above Ames avenue , the bridge committee reported that as this was withht F the city limits nothhng could be approrlated r ; ' nut of the bridge fund. Bids were authorized for the repointing and painting of the county hospital. Claims amounting to about $1,900 were ordered paid. t ; A resolution by Commissioner Ostrom , the chairman of the finance committee , was adopted appropriating $1,000 to the county agricultural society for a poultry and live , stock exhibit at the exposition. This was supported by a written opinion from the k county attorney to the effect that the county could make such appropriation under the act authorizing the $100,000 oxposltion bonds. A county premium list not to exceed - ceed ; 1,000 was accordingly authorized , the s , ' premiums to ho paid out of the exposition fund. i No date has yet been set for the hearing S of the complaint against Justice of the Peace Simon B , Clark of West Omaha.
