Dr. Miller presided nt a meeting of the
park commissioners yesterday afternoon. ' All
the members were present.
Mr. Tukcy brought up the Jefferson sijuaro
Injunction matter In an Informal way. 'Ho '
said Judge Doanc , as counsel for himself ,
and Attorney Conncl had talked over a prop
osition to Imvo Judgn Ferguson call In ( wo
other Judges and decldu the matter among
themselves without giving the matter any
further airing In the courts. Dr. Miller
said that such nn arrangement would bo
perfectly satisfactory to himself , nml tlio
other members of the commission agreed
with him. The decision of the tllreo judges
will bo accepted as final by the .commlsHion
and the case will not be talton to the su-
[ iromo court.
Dr. Miller brought up for consideration
the ordinance now pending In the city coun
cil In regard to compelling citizens to plant
trees and shiubs In certain districts desig
nated by the council. Mr. Miller said that
it would soon bo the proper tlmo tn plant
trees If nny are to be planted this hprlug ,
and ho wanted the mcmbeiH of thn commis
sion lo be familiar with the contents ot
the otdinance PO that In case It became
a law Immediate action could bo taken.
Judge Luke did not seem to bo elated over
.ho ordinance. Ho said that It was lame
n moro thnn ono regard. In the first place
the onllnan'-o did not provide for any fumta
to cairy out Its purpose , und In the second
> ! uce the council did not have the authority
o Invest any power In the park commission.
Mr. Mlltard thought the ordinance suggested
mprovcmcnta and ho was heartily \ favor
of nny proposition relative to hcnntlfylnu ;
the city. No definite action was taken ,
Mr. Dougherty appeared before the board
is u representative of Mr. Crclghton to
earn when the commissioners would nccoin-
iany Mr. Crelghton 1111 a trip over the pro-
tosed route of the southwest boulevard and
illow that gentleman to point out the Him
to lias uuggcstod hoiotofore. Monday morn-
NK at 10 o'clock was agreed upon , Mr.
.yniun , who has Interests la common with
Mr. Crelghton , will Join thu party. The line
of thu boulevard has already been agreed
ipon and the land condemned , but If Mr.
Crolghton nml Mr. I.yman HCO fit to donate
o the commlssslon a tract that Is ngreea-
