The etock recovered when it be came known the company would appeal to the supreme court of the United States and that the decision jutt rendered involved only S170COD back taxes against the Western Union company , against $8,000 against the Gold & Stock company. Soon after the opsn- Ing the market declined J to 5 per cent , but a rally occurred before the first CelL Subse quently there was another dccllno of i to 1J per cent , and a rally of J to J per cent , fluctu ations having been greatest in coal shares. During the afternoon the pressure to sell those increased , and a further decline caused an un favorable influence on the general list. At the cloeo pticea ehowed a recovery of * per cent for Missouri Pacific and i to i per cent for Northwest , St. Paul , Central Pacific and Northern Pacific preferred.
