Stocks The market , notwithstanding tlio
weakness throughout the forenoon , had a
firmer tone this afternoon and diminished
the general decline , and though 27 out of 40
stocks ivcro traded In during the day , they
closed lower than last night. The doclinea
were small in all cases except Erie preferred ,
which showed a net decline of Western Union
and a few others show gains of i to § per
cont. Beading was raided on the report that
the March statement would bo unfavorable.
Union Pacific sold to seller at CO@Clc , a dif
ference of 1J@2 per cent below prices in the
Tegular way.
