There was gposmodic strength between 12 and 2 , In the lost hour the market was Btrong and higher , the general advance being J@i per cent In the final dealings part of the ad vance was lost , New Jersey Central declining 3 per cent. The market closed somewhat ir regular as compared with lost night , seine ac tive stocks being a fraction lower , but the ma jority of active stocks were higher. Floods in the west and unfounded rumors of financial trouble in Chioago were made use of by the bears in hammering the market. Now York Central sold to-day lower than it has been Mnco September , 1879 , the month before the famous rise. ItlNINf ! HTOCKH. Mining stocks were dull , but strong.
