Station, Bulletin No. 15 of this station, that is now
about ready to be pineal before the people, was prepared by
lVofcssors Lloyd and Nicholson. It is devoted wholly to the
sugar beet industry, and contains an analysis of 166 beets
grown in thirty counties of the state, representing all sections
from the extreme southeast to the extreme northwest, and
irom the northeast to the southwest. It also has a complete
set of maps, and every city from which beets were received is
enclosed by a circle. Thus giving the readers an opportunity
to know in which counties and in what parts of those counties
the beets were grown.
Recently a book came to the university with the address
"The Honorable, the Vice-chancellor or Principal of Ne
braska, Lincoln, United States, America." The book is as
peculiar as the address, being an illustrated catalogue of ob
solete musical instruments, with special reference to the his
tory of the pianoforte. J. Kendrick Pyne.organist ol Manches
ter cathedral, realized that if a complete set of such antiqui
ties was not made in a few years it would be impossible to do
so. He therefore obtained the collection and issued the cat
alogue, and though there are but ninety-six copies published
he remembered our institution with No. 35. This interesting
work makes another valuable addition to our ever increasing
library.

INTER-STATE CONTEST HESPERIAN
The Hesperian will issue a special edition de
voted to the interstate contest. It will appear the
next morning after the contest and will contain all
the competing orations and markings of the judges,
together with a full and accurate account of the pro
ceedings of the oratorical association, of the contest
and other items of interest to all. All the students
of the U. of N. will need a copy of this issue and
every person who takes an interest in oraory will "wish
a copy as a souvenir of one of he greaee iner-col-legiae
