IN SOCIETY.

Society in the unlvorslty promises to
be more general this year than over
before. At least that Is the impression
that is given at tho beginning of tho
season, and there is no reason to be
lfove that if "will not bo so. Beginning
at the very first date on tho university
calendar, the societies and fraternities
have added interest to lifo in the insti
tutions by tho number of pleasurable
events that have been given.
The flower parade that was given
last week under street fair manage
ment brought out sovoral rigs filled
with university people. In fact, some
of these wore tho prettiest in tho pro
cess'.onand brought forth a great deal
of favorable comment.
About thirty members of -the Delta,
Gamma fraternity with a few friends
took in tho street fair Tuesday night.
After enjoying all tho sights they re
turned in a body to the homo of Miss
Gregory at Fifteenth and G streets for
a chafing dish supper and impromptu
dance.
About forty members and friends of
Kappa Alpha Theta enjoyed a dance
Thursday night at "Walsh hall. Tho
party was chaperoned by Professor and
Mrs. Fling. Between the dances the
young people slipped out in small
groups and took in the side shows of
the street fair.
The members of the Delian literary
society held their annual reception to
new students Friday evening, Septem
ber 20. in the art hall of the library
building. Light refreshments were
served and the evening spent in having
a social time generally. The hospital
ity shown on every hand by the mem
bers of the society added much to the
pleasure of all present and displayed
the true character of the Delian people.
The members of the Falladian liter
ary society began the year with a re
ception in their hall Friday evening,
September 22. The hall was crowded
with a large number of visitors and
many old members of the society. The
fore part of the evening was spent in a
social time, after which a short musi
cal program was given. The attention
paid to visitors and strangers by the
members of the society in making a
pleasant evening for them is a great
credit to the university in general as
well as the Palladian society.
