At least that Is the impression that is given at tho beginning of tho season, and there is no reason to be lfove that if "will not bo so. Beginning at the very first date on tho university calendar, the societies and fraternities have added interest to lifo in the insti tutions by tho number of pleasurable events that have been given. The flower parade that was given last week under street fair manage ment brought out sovoral rigs filled with university people. In fact, some of these wore tho prettiest in tho pro cess'.onand brought forth a great deal of favorable comment. About thirty members of -the Delta, Gamma fraternity with a few friends took in tho street fair Tuesday night. After enjoying all tho sights they re turned in a body to the homo of Miss Gregory at Fifteenth and G streets for a chafing dish supper and impromptu dance. About forty members and friends of Kappa Alpha Theta enjoyed a dance Thursday night at "Walsh hall. Tho party was chaperoned by Professor and Mrs. Fling. Between the dances the young people slipped out in small groups and took in the side shows of the street fair. The members of the Delian literary society held their annual reception to new students Friday evening, Septem ber 20. in the art hall of the library building. Light refreshments were served and the evening spent in having a social time generally. The hospital ity shown on every hand by the mem bers of the society added much to the pleasure of all present and displayed the true character of the Delian people. The members of the Falladian liter ary society began the year with a re ception in their hall Friday evening, September 22. The hall was crowded with a large number of visitors and many old members of the society. The fore part of the evening was spent in a social time, after which a short musi cal program was given. The attention paid to visitors and strangers by the members of the society in making a pleasant evening for them is a great credit to the university in general as well as the Palladian society. Miss Mamie Miller, Delta Delta Delta, gave a high tea to the members of. the fraternity and friends Monday evening at 6:30 o'clock at her home on G'Atreet. La France roses were used In the table decorations. The guests were: Mr3. James Manahan; Misses Bertha Duj Tell, Alma Koch, Lillian Thompson, Adnelle Cady, Blanche Losch, Grace Losch, Maysie Ames, Clara Smith, Grace Sails, Nellie Dean, Edna Gund, Mamie Miller, Daisy Bonnell, Lavlna Steel, Winifred Bonnell, Anna Vore, Josephine Poynter, Lucy Haywood, Sarbach, Jenkins, Reeves, Wilson, Bratt, Keeler, Grimson and Wheeler. Friday evening the members of Phi Beta Pi gave a party to their friends at tho home of Miss Darleen Wood ward, Twenty-fourth and Q streets. Dancing waB the order of the evening. All decorations were made in the uni versity colors and in carnations, the emblem of tho fraternity.
