I'lilIiMliitn .Vlimtiii l'l'ojurrjiin. The l'alladian society enjoyed an old-timers' program a week ago Friday night. The offi cers of the meeting were: President, Mr. T. F. A. Williams; Secretary, Mis Flora Bul lock; Critic. Mr. C. M. Skilcs. Mr. Williams made some of his usual touching introductory remarks throughout the program, and in his inaugural, as he call ed it. he laid down a platform of the policy he proposed to carry out. Mr. K. F. Piper read several short poems of his own make. He was followed by Miss Kdna Bullock who gave a story on "Two Thirds of the Truth." Prof. Fossler gave a very enjoyable talk, which was greatly appreciated by all. Rev. Fred. St ufl" followed with a good Pal ladian sermon. The music of the evening was 'of equal quality with the rest of the program. Miss Daisy McClure opened the program with a piano solo; Miss Sadie Smith and Miss Spacht gave an instrumental duet; and Miss Ander son of the Unions gave a vocal solo, which closed the program. Mr. C M. Skiles then gave a few "memor-ies'-of-the-past" remarks, followed by a crit ic's report of the program. He made some hinting remarks about the president, who kindly responded with the last word. The meeting closed by singing the National hymn in honor of the soldiers in Camp Saunders. AJvin S. Johnson was kept at home last week by an attack of chicken pox. The vaca tion was employed in writing stories and other harmless amusements. The base ball team started south April 29 for quite an extended tour. The team has had bad luck both on account of the rainy weather and the war spirit. Captain Gordon and Mr. V 'Is, returned 'homo this week to enlist. Mr. Kindler has been elected captain The results of the games so far played are as follows. Gained a victory at Manhattan. Kansas, April I'll, scoie 22 to (i; a draw game at Jawrenee, May y. score J to 5); defeated at St. Mary's by a score of S to 7. April .(: de feated at Fmporia by a score of 10 to 2. The program contest between the boys and the girls of the Delians resulted in a victory for the boys. The forfeit was paid Thursday night in the form of a feed tendered to the boys by the girls at the Nebraska Conserva tory of Music. A large crowd of Delians was present, including several soldier boys from Camp Alvin Saunders. The Hrst course of crackers and water was served early in the evening and the second course after every body had given up all hope. The evening was a pleasant one to all and even the visions of Hunks in Friday's classes did not worry anyone. Arthur Teller left the University and his Palladian friends to enlist with the guards. The Palladians lost Hunting and Goodwill to the guards earl- this week. Work in the Chemical laboratories is be ing pushed this week. Many of the students are working extra time to complete the labor atory work laid out. A good record in this department is equivalent to an examination. N;1ium1u Iok IoIi IetmteM. MISSOUM AND KANSAS DEFKAT OUK UKI'KKSKX TATIVKS IN TUB I'OWTM. Representatives of the University of Ne braska met representatives of Missouri State University, at Columbia, Wednesday evening, and of Kansas University, in this city, Friday evening, in joint debate. In both contests Nebraska was defeated and that by a unani mous decision of the judges. The defeat at Columbia was wholly unex pected and was probably the result of a combination of circumstances.
