Another Independence Day
came and went as quickly as the
fireworks that were shot into the
night sky Tuesday.
From sea to shining sea,
America celebrated July 4 with
apple pie, music and a host of
outdoor activities.
Such was the case at Holmes
Lake in Lincoln.
Jim Pfeiffer, 30, of Syracuse
came to Holmes Lake with his
wife and daughter early Tuesday
evening to see the night’s fire
works display. It was the family’s
first time to Lincoln for the
nighttime spectacle.
“We’re picnicing, playing
through the afternoon,” Pfeiffer
** ../ enjoy it as a holiday itself. You
get to shoot fireworks off and stuff
like that ”
Jim Pfieffer
firework spectator
said. “Went down to the car
show, checked out the cars,
trucks and stuff like that. Just
enjoying the day go by.”
Pfeiffer said his family's par
ticipation in Independence Day
events varies from year to year.
“But I enjoy it as a holiday
itself,” he said. “You get to shoot
fireworks off and stuff like that."
Ruby Bates, 81, of
Tecumseh, made it back to the
fireworks show again this year.
She's been coming to Holmes
Lake for the last ten years, and
she anxiously awaited the fire
works this year.
“That’s what we’re waiting
for,” Bates said, who arrived at
the lake about 5 p.m.
Bates said it was one of the
hottest days she remembers in
attending the fireworks show.
The fireworks show began
just after 10 p.m. and lasted near
ly 20 minutes.
