ASUN votes
against policy
ASUN from pagel _
die senate was arguing over die issue.
“Let’s be proactive for a change,”
Brown said. “ASUN at times is too
scared to act on issues that need to be
acted upon. This is discrimination -
period.”
ASUN Speaker Matt Boyd agreed
“If we do not pass this bill tonight,
we are saying die university has the
right to discriminate by the appearance
of a person,” Boyd said.
Not all senate members supported
the “Union Non-Student Policy” bill.
Communications Chairman Joel
Wiegert abstained to vote because he
did not feel informed on all the issues
surrounding the proposed policy.
“I’m not going to vote on this,”
Wiegert said. “Russell shouldn’t even
be ready for a vote. She couldn’t answer
all of our questions about her own bill.”
The bill passed 19-3 with four
abstentions.
“I do believe it is a disgrace to dis
criminate against our fellow man,”
Andy Schuerman, human rights chair
man, said “ASUN’s support of this bill
is a good thing.”
