The Comhuskers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning against Wildcats starter Nate Corman. NU opened the inning with consecutive singles by Fry and Andrew Sawyers, ' before Francis Collins blasted a three run home run. The next batter, Kevin Harrington, followed with a solo ■homer. I Wayne State roared back scoring ■ _____ three runs in the third. With one out, Darin Gregory doubled and James Mansell followed with another double to score Gregory. Mike Vanderwelt capped the inning with a two-run blast to pull Wayne State back within 4-3. NU padded its lead in the sixth when Collins walked, advanced to sec ond on a wild pitch, stole third and came home when Mansell’s throw sailed into left field. The Wildcats tied the game in the seventh with two runs to set up Schultz’s game-winning hit. Spence Van Linge, the ninth Husker pitcher, picked up the win af ter 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. The Comhuskers won all six single matches and two doubles matches with Lara Botts and Adriana Dulic losing only the match at No. 3 doubles. Angie Dudeck and Kristin Kropick from Gustavus Adolphus took the match 8-6. Sandra Noetzel took a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lisa Broughton at No. 1 singles. No. 2 Lisa Hart won 6-2, 6-0 over Erica Hanson and No. 3 Jenny Thoste defeated Kristin Kropick 6-1, 6-1. Annie Yang swept Misty Redman 6-0, 6-0 to win No. 4 singles. Lara Botts won No. 5 from Sarah Lobland in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Adrian Dulic also needed only two sets to win her match beating Kara Jorgenson 6-4, 6-1.
