JeffHaller/DN Nebraska cross country runners Brady and Sherri Bonsail were married on Aug. 5.. Captains share title, name for cross-country season By Tony West Staff Reporter Seniors Brady and Sherri Bonsall are not only running side by side on the Nebraska cross country team. But also in life. The two, who have been dating since April 1994, got married on Aug. 5. - The Bonsai Is are the only seniors on the cross country teams this sea son, and both are team captains of ' their respective teams. “It’s kind of strange having both captains being married to each other,” Nebraska coach Jay Dirksen said. “However, I think it’s really great.” Dirksen said the marriage most likely would be a positive influence for the team. “Married athletes tend to be a lot more serious and more settled down,” Dirksen said. “There’s probably a lot more things that are not a problem than there are because they are mar ried.” Sherri said she had feelings for “It really doesn’t have a bearing on anything. It wouldn’t be any different than if they were just going out. ” JAY DIRKSEN Nebraska cross country coach * • # Bradysever since she arrived at the university from- Merino, Colo., in 1992. “I liked Brady ever since he was a freshman, but he always had other girlfriends,” she said. “Sc^Ijust had to sit back.”.. But in April 1994, her sitting was over, and the friendship had pro gressed into something more. “At first, we were just really good friends, but we juSt started seeing more of each other,” Brady said. Dirksen said that he was confident that any possible problems at home between the two would stay at home. “When you come to practice, you have toput someof those things away,” he said. “However, they are both re ally good kids and are extremely stable.” And the fact that the two captains are married.jvill not change Dirksen’s game plan on coaching the teams. “It really doesn’t have a bearing on anything,” he said. “It wouldn’t be any different than if they were just • going out.” Brady said he could see one pos sible problem, however. “Sometimes she gets tired of me talking about track all the time,” he said. “But I’d say it’s all worked out great.” Peeling Unhappy With the Way You Look?
