Agriculture Continued from Page 1 filled.” Nebraska isn’t the only state to see a drop in enrollment, he said. It’s a nationwide trend. To increase enrollment and im prove the current curriculum, Edwards said, the college has proposed a 10 step plan. The plan includes improving ad vising, recruiting minority students, improving graduate programs and increasing technologies for learning. “One of the real challenges in agriculture and the natural resources area is retaining the young people we need,” Edwards said. “As we look at our priorities in the 1990s, agricul- ' ture and natural resources will be come more important.” Anti-Semitic Continued from Page 1 is censorship.” Griesen said he has seen such lit erature at UNL before, but was not aware that the pamphlets had appeared on campus again. But UNL ‘‘allows opinions to be expressed,” he said. ‘‘1 don’t think anyone takes them (pamphlets) seriously,” he said. Erlich said he hasn’t complained about the anti-Semitic nature of the pamphlets in part because ‘‘First Amendment considerations are legiti mate.” He said he feels the best defense against the pamphlets and other anti Semitic ideas and actions is educa tion about Judaism. Erlich said UNL should offer classes that are taught from the Jewish per spective, including courses in Jewish literature and art as well as Jewish religious thought occurring after the time of the Old Testament. Such classes do not exist at UNI. now, he said. “That really is a deficiency that needs to be rectified,” he said. “It helps contribute to the atmosphere of ignorance and suspicion.” Classes do exist every year for minority literatures and every other year a course in Judeo-Christian lit erature is offered, he said.
