As many as three Nebraska foot

lebraska Athletic Director Bob
)cvancy announced Wednesday.
Devaney and the Nebraska Ath
ene Department arc in the process of
omplcting a deal with Sports Video
’reduction Inc. of Omaha to televise
rames against Oklahoma and Okla
Joma State via pay-per-view delayed
broadcasts and televise the Missouri
gamo live on pay-per-view.
The two delayed games would be
shown at 10:30 p.m. Saturday while
the Missouri game is contingent on
wnctner it is selected to be shown by
the national networks.
Dcvaney said he pursued the pay
per-view option because he wants to
learn if there is a statewide interest in
pay-per-view cablecasting, to help
make up lor lost revenue because of
the NCAA television sanctions
against Oklahoma and Oklahoma
State, and because many Comhusker
fans would not be able to sec three of
the Husker’s top games this season
were it not for pay-per-view.
At Thursday’s practice, Nebraska
football coach Tom Osborne said his
team has been working more on its’
short passing game for this season.
“We are just trying to get a little
bit more prepared against the blitz. A
couple times last year we got hurt by
it so we are trying to do some things to
counteract that,” Osborne said.
Osborne said three of the four
remaining walk-on scholarships will
be given out after today’s closed
scrimmage.
Osborne also said he will discuss
the book ‘‘Big Red Confidential:
Inside Nebraska Football” for the
first time at the press conference fol
lowing today’s scrimmage.
An advance copy of the book was
sent to the Lincoln Joumal/Star. It
allegedly did not contain many
changes from the controversial gal
ley proofs. The book goes on sale in
bookstores Tuesday.

unpredictable.”
Snyder said he is confident that if
he continues to bring quality student
athletes to Manhattan, Kan., and
motivates them to improve while
building a strong support base, Kan
sas State will turn its program around.
Iowa coach Hayden Fry agreed.
He said Kansas State chose the right
man when it named Snyder as its
football coach.

that was unplayable.”
He said Novak also did a good job
of following the Huskers’ game plan.
“She did exactly what we ex
pected her to do,” he said.
Drake coach Martic Larsen said
the Bulldogs were inconsistent.
“We played fairly well and we
executed the things we worked on,”
Larsen said. “We had lapses, but we
hope to become more consistent.”
Nebraska sophomore middle
blocker Cris Hall did not suit up for
the match because of back spasms.
Pettit said Hall also will miss Satur
day’s match with Iowa and will not
start training again until Wednesday.
"Cris is so important to us that we
have to take care of her physically,”
he said.
