This win ner of five Academy Awards starts Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger and Jack Nicholson. Lincoln and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus are featured in many of the film’s backdrops. Thursday at 3:30,7 and 9 p.m. Friday at 7 and 9 p.m. and Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m. Cry Freedom. The movie, co sponsored with the UPC-Model United Nations committee, is an emotional film set in contemporary South Africa. The film deals with the struggle of the South African blacks against apartheid. UPC-Model United Nations and UPC-Talks and Topics will sponsor a lecture on Feb. 23 with Donald Woods, the author of the two books upon which the movie is based. Feb. 20,21 and 22 at 1,4 and 7 p.m. Crocodile Dundee II. Paul Hogan, Australian heart-throb, is back in the sequel of the highly successful “Crocodile Dundee.” March 2, 3 and 4 (East Campus), March 5 (City Campus). Dustin Hoffman is a young graduate in the 1960s dealing with the idealism of college versus the hypocrisy of his elders. Anne Bancroft is Mrs. Robinson. This film was not only a great critical success, but sports Simon and Garfunkel’s songs on the soundtrack as well. April 20 at 3:30, 7 and 9 p.m. April 21, 7 and 9 p.m. April 22,7 and 9 p.m. All films arc shown in the Ne braska Union, unless otherwise noted. University Program Council For eign Film Series Singing the Blues in Red. Klaus Dritlcman (Gcrulf Pannach) is an East Berliner whose songs land him in political trouble. He goes to the West where he begins his search for his father who defected 30 years be fore. Instead, he finds himself lion ized, given a big recording contract, and upheld as a professional defector. Directed by Ken Loach. (Great Brit ain/West Germany, 1986) Sunday. Law of Desire. Set against a back ground of Madrid, the movie is a rousing tale of a successful young director whose jealous, bratty lover will go to any length - including murder - to possess him. Directed by Pedro Almodovcr. (Spain, 1987) Feb. 26. Wedding in Galilee. Shot in Gali lee, a Palestinian village under Israeli control, the film tells of a village headman that wants his son’s wed ding to be celebrated traditionally. Directed by Michel Khlcifi. (Bel gium, 1987) March 19. Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done. This investigative documen tary zeroes in on the bankers, politi cians and members of the First Bap tist Church of Dallas, attempting to link fundamentalism Christians and right-wing politicians. This movie was filmed before the PTA scandal exploded. Director Anthony Thomas underlines inconsistencies of church practices with basic Christian beliefs. (United Kingdom, 1987) April 9. Repentance. The murder of a cor rupt city official is covered up by his son, who fears scandal. Although the son buries his father in secret, the un dead mayor keeps reappearing in the garden’s petunia beds. The roles of father and son arc played by Autandil Makharadze, whose physical appear ance resembles composites of Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini. Directed by Tingiz Abuladze. (USSR) April 23.
