Osborne says fans, point spread ridiculous
TIGERS from Page 7__
The touchdown was Millikan’s
13th career touchdown pass, which is
a Nebraska record for tight ends.
Millikan said he was surprised he got
the record on that play.
“I was just a decoy,” he said. “I was
just suppose to try to hold the comer
downficld so he wouldn’t come in the
way of the primary receiver.”
Missouri’s Chris Hall took Tom
Janky’s ensuing kickoff and was hit
and fumbled at the Missouri 22. The
ball flew into the air and was grabbed
by Nebraska’s Charles Fryar, who ran

in for an apparent touchdown. How
ever, a personal foul was called
against the Huskers and the ball was
brought back to the Missouri 44.
Missouri held the Huskers and forced
Nebraska to punt.
“We talk and we talk and we talk to
our players about discipline and
poise,” Osborne said. “Apparently a
couple guy s took a swing at each other
and our guy got called. That was
probably about the time Fryar was in
the end zone.
“That (personal foul) has got to be
about the dumbest thing I’ve ever
heard of.”
When Missouri got the ball back,
halfback Mike Jones fumbled,and the
ball was again recovered by Fryar.
Nebraska took over at the Missouri 25
and capped a three-play scoring drive
with a one-yard run from Tyrcese
Knox. That gave Nebraska its first
lead of the game, 14-9.
Missouri regained the lead with
4:101eftin the third quarter on a three
yard run by Jones. The run capped a
63-yard, eight-play drive set up by a
Ken Clark fumble. Missouri’s two
point conversion failed, making the
score 15-14.

Nebraska responded wilh a 54
yard drive that resulted in a 29-yard
Drennan field goal with 1:37 left in
the third quarter.
Missouri regained its final lead ot
the game at 18-17 with 10:43 left in
the fourth quarter on a 51-yard Jacke
field goal, his fourth of the game.
Nebraska added Carpenter’s run
and a 23-yard Drennan field goal to
close out the scoring.
Missouri still had a chance to score
a touchdown and a two-point conver
sion and tie the game, but Mike Croel
intercepted a Brad Fitzmaurice pass
at die Missouri 37 with 26 seconds
left.
Nebraska’s eight-point victory
was about 30 points below the point
spread in Las Vegas. Osborne said he
couldn’t believe that point spread,
especially with die talent Missouri
has.
“That was the most ridiculous
point spread I’ve seen in my life,” he
said.
