the life of a Jewish girl and her
family during the Nazi occupation
of the Netherlands.

The instrumental Collegium
Musicum, a University of Ne
braska-Lincoln School of Music
ensemble, performs at Sl Mark’s
on the Campus Episcopal Church at
8 p.m. Thursday.
Directed by Priscilla Parson, the
performance features recorder, viol
and vocal consorts, and a trio sonata
in English and Italian music.
Biagio Marini’s “Sonata Sopra
la Monica,” John Dowland’s
"Three Pavans — Lachrimai,” se
lections of Tye, Byrd and John
Ward, Byrd’s “Ye sacred Muses”
and “Canzona” by Frescobaldi will
be performed.
Collegium members include
music students, UNL faculty and
staff, and Lincoln musicians who
share a common interest in per
forming early music for their pleas
ure and others.
The final exhibit on display for
the spring semester in the UNL Art
Department Gallery, Richards Hall
102, will be the masters of fine arts
thesis show. The show features
work by Lana Miller, Joo Yon Lee,
Cynthia Carlson and Gregory
Davis. The exhibit opens Friday.
There will be a reception for the
artists Friday evening from 7 to 9
p.m. in the gallery. Gallery hours
are9a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Thursday.

Randall R. Wagner, doctor of
musical arts candidate at the UNL
School of Music, will present a
degree recital in Kimball Hall Fri
day at 8 p.m.
This free public recital will in
clude a wide variety of style and
content, ranging from the polished,
elegant melodies of Henry Purcell
to die emotional extremes of Gus
tav Mahler. Works by Ravel and
Charles Ives will also be featured.
Wagner and his accompanist,
Laura Ward Brooks, won the 1987
stale and regional National Asso
ciation of Teachers of Singing Art
ist Award Competition.

Three of the pioneers of early
music study and performance will
present a concert at the Sheldon
Memorial Art Gallery Auditorium
at 8p.m. Friday as part of the UNL
Performing Arts Series.
Franz Brueggen, recorder; An
ner Bylsma, violin and cello; and
Gustav Leonhardt, harpsichord; are
regarded as national heroes in the
Dutch Baroque music scene.
The performance is sold out, but
Kimball Box Office is compiling a
waiting list for tickets.
A pre-performance talk with Kit
Voorhees and UNL professor in
musicology and specialist in early
music Pamela Starr will be given in
Westbrook Music Building 119 at
7:30 p.m.

perform works for soprano, clarinet
and piano on Sunday at 4 p.m. in
Westbrook Music Building 119.
Deaton and West are graduate
students at the UNL School of
Music. The program will include
works by Schubert, Ned Rorem and
Arnold Cooke.

Donna Hackler will present a
master’s organ recital on Sunday at
4 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Risen
Christ, 3550 Sheridan Blvd.
The program will feature 19th
and 20th- century repertoire, in
cluding “Messe de la Pentecte” by
Olivier Messiaen, “Choral No. 2” in
B minor by Cesar Franck and Toc
cata and Fugue in E by Max Reger.

Levin, viola; and Charles Tucker,
cello — will perform in Kimball
Recital Hall Sunday at 8 p.m.
They will be joined by UNL
professor of piano Audun Ravnan
in a performance of Mozart’s Piano
Quartet in G minor. For E.J.
Moeran’s "Fantasie Quartet,” the
trio will enlist the aid of William
McMullen, UNL professor of oboe.
The last piece, the “Clarinet Quin
tet” by Johannes Brahms, will in
clude the trio, Anthony Pasqule,
clarinet, and Donna Carnes, second
violin.
