Workshop and orientat ion ses
sion schedule
The February schedule for inter
viewing and resume writing work
shops and orientation sessions is
available in Nebraska Union 230.
January workshops are as follows:
Interviewing: Tuesday, at 2 p.m.
Resume writ ing: Wednesday at 10
a.m.
Orientation sessions: Wednesday
at 2 p.m. and Thursday at 10:30
a.m. and 3 p.m.
Room locations will be posted in
the Nebraska Union.
East Campus Did Booth
The Bid Booth will be in the East
Union next to the information desk
from 1 to 4 p.m. on Mondays. Infor
mation is available on CPPC, and
bids for on-campus interviews are
accepted.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson w ill speak at
the 20th annual conference of the
Nebraska Model United Nations Feb.
11 at 8 p.m. in the Nebraska Union
Centennial Room. Jackson will speak
on "The Power of the Individual."
The conference is a meeting of high
school and college students from
Lincoln, Omaha, elsewhere in Nebraska
and out of state. In a mock trial of the
United Nations Conference, the students
debate current international issues
ranging from nuclear disarmament to
world hunger. The students learn
debating skills and parliamentary
procedure as they research and apply
policies and preferences of the countries
they represent.
Usually 40 to 65 delegates attend the
conference, said Michelle Garwood,
secretary-general of the Nebraska Model
United Nations. Any student wishing to
take part in the conference can apply

In addition to Jackson's speech,
there will be a delegate reception at
Chesterfield, Bottomsley and Potts on
Feb. 12 and a 20th birthday party Feb.
13 in the Nebraska Union.
The public is invited to attend
Jackson's speech. UNL st udents w ill be
admitted free with a ticket, and general
admission is $3. Tickets will be available
beginning at noon, Monday, through
Feb. 6 in the CAP office Nebraska
Union 200.
Lincoln plans
'Heart of
City' weekend
Mayor Roland Luedtke has pro
claimed Feb. 7 and 8 as the first annual
"Heart of the City Weekend."
Although the event encourages visi
tors to come to Lincoln, advertisements
are aimed mainly at Lincolnites.
"We can enjoy our own city ... and
celebrate downtown ourselves. Down
town is the heart of Lincoln," Luedtke
said.
Activites will include city tours, a
Sweetheart Ball for the American Heart
Association and a Chocoholic Buffet
sponsored by the Lincoln Haymarket
Association. Special rates for the
Clayton House, Cornhusker and Hilton
hotels are available to "get away from it
all.'
