"It makes one strong argument for the whole state. It's of common inter est between schools." Chapelle said it is important for stu dents to voice their opinion concerning the three percent across-the-board bud get cut proposal. Communication to state legislators from students through letters and phone calls is important, she said. "Their point of view is important. It cannot be duplicated," Chapelle said. "No one knows what it's like to sit in class, study and work for an education but the students who do it." Chapelle said she encourages stu dents to lobby at the state capitol today at 1:30 p.m. during the appropri ations committee meeting. "They must realize that their opin ions are important. It's their responsi bility to let legislators know how they feel. Their opinions make a difference right now," Chapelle said. In other business, NSSA passed unanimously a resolution introduced by the UNLNSSA chapter resulting from the Smith Hall women's athletic study facility controversy. The resolution stated that NSSA and each NSSA chapter represented, in conjunction with campus administra tors, form policy for their respective campuses that provides a procedure to ensure student input on all construc tion, including renovation, of bond funded facilities for student use. "The bill was introduced because we wanted to see if other campuses had the same problem," said Patty Sokolik, UNLNSSA delegate.
