Enrollment figures from the
three NU campuses have dropped
for the fall semester.
According to Jim Raglin, uni
versity director of public affairs,
40,749 students were attending
classes, a decline of 1,139 from
the record 41,888 enrolled in fall
At UNL, 24,217 students were
enrolled, compared to 24,764 in
1 9S3. At UNO, enrollment dropped
from 14,531 to 14,037, while the
NU Medical Center in Omaha re
ported a decline from 2,593 to
By percentages, the declines
showed UNL down 2.2 percent,
UNO down 3.4 percent and the
Medical Center down 3.8 percent.

There were indications the
university might see a decline
greater than experienced, Raglin
said, because of a decline in the
number of high school graduates.

To help parents educate their
children about the importance of
vehicle safety, Lincoln General
Hospital is sponsoring a Vehicle
Safety Day on Sunday.
Activities will begin at 1 p.m. on
the sixth floor of Lincoln General
Hospital, 2300 S. 16th St., and will
consist of four 30-minute pro
grams. The programs will be given

child safety seats, seat belt use,
the 1983 Nebraska law and the
seriousness of auto accidents.

Robert Wegmann, a professor
in the School of Human Sciences
and Humanities, will speak Mon
day at 3 p.m. in the Nebraska
Union on trends in the job market
and the value of a liberal arts
education when looking for a job.
He also will speak Monday at 8
p.m in the East Union on trends
in the job market. Tuesday at 3
p.m. he will discuss the problems
students have when seeking jobs.
