Enrollment figures from the
three NU campuses have dropped
for the fall semester.
According to Jim Raglin, uni
versity director of public affairs,
40,749 students were attending
classes, a decline of 1,139 from
the record 41,888 enrolled in fall
of 1983.
At UNL, 24,217 students were
enrolled, compared to 24,764 in
1 9S3. At UNO, enrollment dropped
from 14,531 to 14,037, while the
NU Medical Center in Omaha re
ported a decline from 2,593 to
2,495.
By percentages, the declines
showed UNL down 2.2 percent,
UNO down 3.4 percent and the
Medical Center down 3.8 percent.
Raglin said the decline in stu
dent enrollment wasn't an "earth
shaking" dilemma.
There were indications the
university might see a decline
greater than experienced, Raglin
said, because of a decline in the
number of high school graduates.
