Health Center begins search
for student health aides
The University Health Center is look
ing for a few healthy people for the
1C34-1C35 academic year.
Recruitment now is taking place for
health rides, students who live on
campus and link students and the
health center, said program super
visor Janet Crawford.
"Health aides provide first-aid to
people in the living unit," Crawford
said. They treat some kind of sealed
down illnesses and have a health kit.
They also provide health information."
While serving a3 health aides, stu
dents take a Public Health class for
college credit, said program super
visor Margaret Pavclka
Besides the class, health aides are
expected to be certified in both cardio
pulmonary resuscitation and in first
aid, Pavelka said. The Health Center
helps enroll the student in certifi
cation classes.
Some health aide activities include
writing a health tip each semester

ford said. They submit weekly reports
to the supervisor.
Health aides receive t-3 a week. The
public health course books are loaned
to the students by the Health Center.
The crade fcr the class is based on
work done outside of class, such as the
"health tips. The activities, have point
values, which are computed with the
class and exam grade to get the final
grade, Pavclka said.
Application packets can be picked
up in 103 University Health Center or
from a health aide,

Presidential candidate Roger Knee, vice pres
idential candidate Garth Thomson and second vice
presidential candidate Rob Kubik announced their
write-in candidacies at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 in
the main TV lounge of Selleck 7000 Residence HalL
Knee said the party name "is symbolic of the fes
tive nature of our party." The party mascot is Bimbo
the Birthday Gown.
Knee, a pre-med sophomore, said he was the
dodge ball champion of his fifth-grade class and the
best "no hands" bicycle rider of hii block.
Knee said he also carries a Phillips Petroleum
card. '
Thomson, a Teacher's College sophomore, has
had a library card since he was eight years old, and
ha3 been to the State CapitoL
Kubik, an electrical engineering 'freshman, was
the shortest player on his high school football team
and owns two pool cues. " 1
