Students dance for charitable cause
kJt built litWMM'wvM
For 24 hours, from Friday afternoon to Saturday
afternoon, a group of students from the Hsrper-Schr&mm-Smith
residence hdl complex isolated
themselves from every aspect of university life.
Every aspect except music, that is.
Several stout-hearted students danced the niht
away at the Nebraska Union as part of a day-long
dance-a-thon to raise money for Lincoln's Malone
Community Center. Each hour they stayed on their
feet meant more money for the center.
"All the floors usually do things to raise money for
their own floor funds " said Diane Newman, one of
the dancers. "We just wanted to do this for fun; so
we're giving the money to the I.Ialone Center."

The UNL Residence Hall Association is giving
students the opportunity to ask questions about the

forum, said the mala speakers scheduled are cam
pus police Seers Lt. John Burks, head of the UNL
Parking Advisory Committee, and St. Richard Gam
mel, an assistant on the committee. As members of
the advisory committee, the two work directly with
parking regulations and improvements that affect
students and thus, should be helpful la answering

Those people were Stephanie Carter, Dave
Engelhaupt, John Long, Pat Maloney, Newman, J.K.
Purtzer, Kathy Rasmussen, Richard Runnels and
Beth Schneider.
Along with the dance-a-thon, the students
sponsored an all-university dance Friday from 9
p.m. until 1 a.m.
"There was a two-dollar donation at the door,"
Runnels said. "It gives us a chance to raise more
money to give the Malone Center."
Runnels said about 60 to 70 people attended the
Friday night dance.
The students wont know how much money they
raised until Dec.:16,i when the pled must be
turned in, but they estimated that $5G0 would be
