An executive of USA Today, the
nation's only national newspaper, and
several other distinguished journalists will
visit the UNL School of Journalism during
Journalism Week, Wednesday through
Friday.
Peter S. Prichard, deputy editorial
director of USA Today , will speak about
the national publication Wednesday at
8 pjn. in the Nebraska Union Centennial
Room. Prichard is second in command of
USA Today's opinion and inquiry pages.
He also has been assistant to Allen
Neuharth, chairman of the board and

The idea for J-Week came from the
school's Student Advisory Council, Neale
Copple, dean of the School of Journalism,
said.
"The students, headed by Carla Cover,
and advised by Associate Dean Wilma
Crumley, both planned the program and
helped pick the speakers," Copple said.
"They insisted that one full day be devoted
to honoring students."
Friday will be devoted to students and
families, Copple said. Tours of the school
will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9 30 a jn.
New members of the national journalism
honorary, Kappa Tau Alpha, will be
announced at a noon luncheon.
The school's honor convocation will be
in the Centennial Room at 2:30 pjn.
The J-Week program also will include
visits to the school by distinguished
journalists including: Gary Grahnquist,
vice president and advertising director for
Neiman-Marcus; Frank Scott, director of
programs for the Voice of America; George
Miller, a Nebraska publisher; and Michael
Stricklin, former UNL journalism professor
and now assistant managing editor of
the Fort Worth Star -Telegram. These
professionals will visit classes during the
