Lincoln mayoral candidate Roger Lott.
Lott throws hat into mayoral ring
Standing across the street from the
recently closed American Stores meat
packing plant, Lincoln attorney Roger
Lott announced his candidacy for mayor
Thursday morning.
Lott told a group of reporters and
supporters that American Stores "sym
bolizes the challenges we're going to
face in the next four years. We need some
body who is going to be active and able
to bring all of the community together.
I think I can do that."
Lott, a democrat, said the high quality
of life in Lincoln must be maintained.
"The most important thing we have to
sell is the liveability of life in Lincoln,"
Lott said.
. Lott is the fifth candidate to enter the
mayoral race. Arnold Grinvalds, a UNL
student and a waiter at Valentino's, and
Marlin Pals, a grocery store clerk, have
already filed.
City Council President Joe. Hampton
and Mike Carper of the Socialist Workers'
Party have announced their intention to
run.
