Lott throws hat into mayoral ring Standing across the street from the recently closed American Stores meat packing plant, Lincoln attorney Roger Lott announced his candidacy for mayor Thursday morning. Lott told a group of reporters and supporters that American Stores "sym bolizes the challenges we're going to face in the next four years. We need some body who is going to be active and able to bring all of the community together. I think I can do that." Lott, a democrat, said the high quality of life in Lincoln must be maintained. "The most important thing we have to sell is the liveability of life in Lincoln," Lott said. . Lott is the fifth candidate to enter the mayoral race. Arnold Grinvalds, a UNL student and a waiter at Valentino's, and Marlin Pals, a grocery store clerk, have already filed. City Council President Joe. Hampton and Mike Carper of the Socialist Workers' Party have announced their intention to run.
