But, when asked if they read the enter tainment page, 44 percent of the students said they read the page all the time, and 40 percent said they read it occasionally. As for faculty, 38 percent read entertainment regularly and 25 percent read the page occasionally. Those interviewed also were asked if they read the sports page. Sixty eight per cent of the students said they read the page regularly. And 14 percent said they read it sometimes. Forty -three percent of the faculty , : staff - and administrators read sports regularly, 23 percent read the page occasionally. When asked how often they read the Daily Nebraskan, 62 percent of the stu dents said they read the newspaper every-, day, whereas 43 percent of the faculty staff and administrators read the paper every day. THIRTEEN PERCENT said they read the paper four times a week. Fifteen per cent said they read it three times a week. - The: percentage of people who read the Daily Nebraskan one or two times a week was significantly lower. And 1 percent said they don't read the Daily Nebraskan at all. To the question, "once you start to read a story in the Daily Nebraskan, how much do you finish," 87 percent of the students and 75 percent of the staff said they finish (he entire story. However, many qualified their answers, saying that the first few paragraphs will determine whether the story catches their attention. When asked if they think the Daily Ne braskan should print more state and national news, 36 percent of the students and less than 2 percent of the staff said yes. Many of the students who said they want to see more state and national news also said the Daily Nebraskan is the only paper they read on a daily basis. However, many added they don't want to see the . existing content suffer to make room fors additional news. . ; Respondents also offered comments about the paper. : ' '' , " 'r'"' Randy Bush, a UNL graduate student, said, "In cases where a story is controver sial f believe the paper should research and investigate a wider range of opinions." Bush's opinion was echoed by several others. ANOTHER GRADUATE student com plained there are no Daily Nebraskans left in the racks in the evening during night classes. A few members of the administration said they had been misquoted. Paul Fischbach, professor of agricultural engineering, said he had been misquoted and that the Daily Nebraskan should be "eliminated altogether." However, another member of the UNL staff had only positive comments about the Daily Nebraskan. Marjorie Reid, assistant to the directors of Conservation and Survey Division, said, "I've been with the university longer than I like to think about; and I can't believe how much the quality has increased. I'm from the day when they used to print who was pinned to who." ' Linda Arnold, secretary in Chancellor Roy Young's office, said Daily Nebraskan reporters are persistent. If 'they don't get the information they need or want, they persist. And usually they get the . information they need." Others said they thought the crossword puzzle was too difficult, or would like to see a listing of movie times. Because of the short notice, many made no comments. , One person interviewed said he thought the content of the personals was too limit ed. V "Sometimes I'll take a personal down to the paper. It's not even x-rated and they won't print it," he said.
