The workshop will com bine the participants of the Nebraska Dance workshop, and the annual All-State Fine Arts Program, which will meet for two weeks, ac cording to Marie Sanwick, workshop coordinator. Sanwick said this is the first year an entire com pany has come for the workshop, which is in its third year. In the past, nationally-known teachers have come for the workshop, but not an entire company, Sanwick said. About 60 to 70 students will participate in the workshop, Sanwick said, ad ding that the size is "ab solutely perfect" since the group' will be divided by technical skill levels. "We have people come from all across the country," Sanwick said, in dicating that workshop par ticipants would be coming from California to Philadelphia, and would in clude faculty from other universities .. . c , & The workshop, which will be offered for M both graduate and undergraduate credit, will be a "concentrated perfor mance clinic," according to Sanwick, and will feature ballet, modern, and jazz dance, with company members teaching different forms. Faculty for the workshop will be Gregg Lizenbery and Debbie Paulsen, both performers for the Evans Company, Pamela Heston, a dancer with the Omaha Ballet, and Barbara Bach Mason, a faculty member at UNL. The Evans Company will be in residence for the workshop June 14-16, and will perform a variety of ac tivities, Sanwick said. On June 14, Evans will narrate a performance of his company, which will be open to the public in Mabel Lee Hall, Sanwick said. Members of the company will instruct dance techni que classe on June 15, San wick said. Sanwick said there will be an im proyisitation class, a reper tory class, and a musical, comedy, and tap class. On June 16 there will be a formal performance by the Evans Company at Kim ball Hall. Sanwick called the Evans Company "one of the most popular companies in the country," and said that they have been popular for about the last six years. Sanwick also called the companies' work "very ex citing" and said they were very fortunate to get the company to Lincoln for the workshop. Sanwick said the ar rangements to have the Evans Company were made over a year in advance. The Evans Company is based in Seattle, where they rehearse, conduct home performances, and are now developing a cur riculum for dance students at Dance Theatre Seattle, the official company school. The Evans Repertory company reflects- a philosophy of movement and dance concerned with human communication. Bill Evans, director of the company, is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. , As a teacher, Evans has been on the faculty of the University of Utah, and the Harvard University Dance Center. y pj, JUNE jallj, PAINTERS "ale IVOMEN'sX PANTS FADED 6L0RY , TOPS y $g)99 J $a J597 yyto Qil)oJ recycled PAINTERS I SKB3TS PANTS JEANS ft C) iy KENNINGTON Nv- tJJjy XCAMPUS . 7 i I .
