UNL crew fares well in Regatta
UNL's stadium is frightfully small
compared to the one used once a year In
Boston, Mass. : r - . . n
The Boston stadium is three miles
long and last Sunday it came alive as
250,000 spectators watched the UNL
crew and 119 other rowing teams in th8
Head of the Charles River Regatta.
There were more han 585 shells
(light racing boats) with 2,500 men and
women powering them down the long,
winding river that is crossed by seven
bridges.
i imi ontorpH in twn of the seventeen
categories. One of those events was the
heavyweight eight man shell; entered
for the first time in UNL crew history. .
Using a newly purchased shell, the
heavyweight eight finished 10th out of
54 places. The race was so close that
only 3.5 seconds separated Nebraska
from fifth place. ,ml ,e
Facing a strong headwind, UNL s
lightweight four finished 20th out of 49
in their event. l
The UNL crew is coached . by Ron
Rusthoven.

proclaims the 1974 Colorado football guide. The
tale is certainly a sad one for the Buffaloes thus far
this season. . , .'
The once-feared Buffalo defense is sixth in Big 8
pass defense and last in rushing and total de
fense. The Buffalo defense has "bent and broke
this fall, spelling out a 3-4 record for the Buffaloes.
Under new head coach Bill Mallory the defense
has improved little from last year's, which finished
last in Big 8 total. x . .
The defense returns eight starters led by
linebacker and two-year regular Jeff Geiser and
safety Jerry Martinez. . .
The offense has von the games for the Buffaloes
this season. The big offensive player for the
Buffaloes is junior wingback Dave Logan. Logan
has won two football and two basketball letters for
CU and is planning on trying cut for baseball next
SpWhen the Huskers traveled to Boulder, in 1972,
they won 33-10 amid a snowstorm. There is a
slight chance for snow again this year.
The game is to be televised at 1 p.m. Lincoln
time on ABC.
