AFT urges
bylaws adoption
The UNL chapter of the
American Federation of
Teachers (AFT), Monday
passed a resolution urging the
NU Board of Regents to adopt
the proposed University bylaws
as submitted by the
Commission on Governance of
the University.
The federation also voted to
attempt to convene a special
session of the Faculty Senate if
the bylaws are rejected,
substantially amended or not
acted upon within a
"reasonable amount of time."
In other action, President
Sing-nan Fen reported that the
AFT Executive Council had
met with Chancellor James
Zumberge about salary
requests, but that no action
had been taken.
The federation has proposed
a 5' per cent across-the-board
salary increase for the 1973-74
term, plus adoption of a
minimum salary scale.
The University of Nebraska
at Omaha already has such a
scale.
