University of Nebraska students
should be able to have their fill
of sports and sports activity in
Lincoln this summer.
Intramural sports at the Uni
versity will not be run on an
organized basis unless there is in
terest shown by students, but
there will be plenty of recreation
available for those desiring It.
Ed. Higgenbotham, director of
intramural athletics at the Uni
versity, stated in an interview

run average of 1.17, hit .308,

These facilities include hand
ball courts, squash courts, tennis
courts, basketball courts and the
University swimming pool.
Hours for the swimming pool
are: Women, 4-5 p.m.; men, 5-6
p.m. daily with mixed swimming
on Wednesday. The tennis courts
will be open daily from 8 a.m.
until 5 p.m.
Baseball fans will be able to
see the rebuilt Lincoln Chiefs dis
play top-notch Class A profes
sional baseball at Sherman Field
in Lincoln.
As you can see there are plenty
of opportunities for these sports
enthusiasts to unlimber their
frames and enjoy a little mental
relaxation from" school studies in
the process.
Sport Films
To Be Shown
"Sports Shorts," a program for
sports enthusiasts will begin
Thursday, June 18 from 11:45 a.m.
until 12:30 p.m. in the Union
lounge. The films, "Steady Now,"
"Hunting Dog," and "Man, A Gun
and Dog," will be shown.

Naval ROTC Men
Journey To South
Fifty-one naval and five marine,
midshipmen from the University!
Naval ROTC department are par
ticipating in summer training pro
grams. The first ErouD embarked Fri
day for a South American Cruise.
Ten other University midship
men will depart July 19, for Cen
tral America.
Twenty-eight midshipmen will
participate in the "aviation-amphibious""
training June 26 at Cor

Creek, Va. .
