Intramural sports at the Uni versity will not be run on an organized basis unless there is in terest shown by students, but there will be plenty of recreation available for those desiring It. Ed. Higgenbotham, director of intramural athletics at the Uni versity, stated in an interview Tuesday that all the facilities of All Star Ball Team Includes Huskers .Ray Novak, Nebraska pitcher first baseman, and Jim Ceder dahl, Nebraska outfielder, were picked by the coaches to be on the National Collegiate Ath letic Association's Fifth District Ail-Star baseball team, accordr ing to A. J. Lewandowski, dis trict chairman. Novak, who had an earned run average of 1.17, hit .308, batting usually in the' cleanup position. Cederdahl led in runs batted in with 24. the physical education department will be open to summer school students. . These facilities include hand ball courts, squash courts, tennis courts, basketball courts and the University swimming pool. Hours for the swimming pool are: Women, 4-5 p.m.; men, 5-6 p.m. daily with mixed swimming on Wednesday. The tennis courts will be open daily from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Baseball fans will be able to see the rebuilt Lincoln Chiefs dis play top-notch Class A profes sional baseball at Sherman Field in Lincoln. As you can see there are plenty of opportunities for these sports enthusiasts to unlimber their frames and enjoy a little mental relaxation from" school studies in the process. Sport Films To Be Shown "Sports Shorts," a program for sports enthusiasts will begin Thursday, June 18 from 11:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Union lounge. Nation's Top Miters In Capital City June 19-20 One of the greatest collections of collegiate milers in history is entered in the National Collegiate Track and Field Championships in Lincoln June 19-20. Leading the star-studded parade of 44 distance aces into Nebraska's Memorial Stadium will be Kansas' Wes Santee, whose 4:06.3 clock ing in the Big Seven Conference meet at Ames, la., two weeks ago was tb best for a collegian since 1934. Every one of the top 10 milers in the country is entered. Right back of Santee on the entry list is Charlie Capozzoli of Georgetown whose mile timing, 4:07.8, is second best in the na tion. His Georgetown teammate, Joe LaPierre, has been clocked at 4:08, the nation's third best time. Naval ROTC Men Journey To South Fifty-one naval and five marine, midshipmen from the University! Naval ROTC department are par ticipating in summer training pro grams. The first ErouD embarked Fri day for a South American Cruise. Ten other University midship men will depart July 19, for Cen tral America.
