Inside Story . . .
(Continued from Page 3.)
to take up the matter with Dean
Thompson who in turn referred
it to the faculty committee on stu
dent organizations and social
functions.
More ' time elapsed until the
faculty turned thumbs down on
the entire project because of its
"commercial aspects." Officials
from the Stuart Theater, Twenti
eth Century and The Daily Ne
braskan attempted to straighten
out the matter but with no suc
cess. THE EDITOR appealed the is
sue to the Student Council.
Exhausted Daily editors finally
unearthed a solution to the prob
lem. The Rag decided to choose
its own queen in a purely non
commercial manner.
The announcement was made
and a host of freshman beauties
descended on the Rag office to file
for the honor. Monday night was
pure joy, when staff members
rated some 34 freshman women
for their beauty.
The six finalists were selected
on a 1 to 10 scale rating. Their
pictures were published, a poll
was taken and now The Daily
Nebraskan, like every other cam
pus club, has a sweetheart.
