Victory in this race gave the KU thinclads the championship with Coach Ed Weirs HusKers running secona. Altho the conference meet is stiil a few weeks in the future, early attempts to preaict tne imt cnam pion are not out of order. Several definite weaknesses are present in the Nebraska team at the present writlnr. With Dick Piderit ineligible, the Scarlet ireieht corps Is scarcely visible Piderit took third in the Indoor shot put and was improving; stead y. The Huskers' outdoor show infs have produced no point win ners in either the discus or shot to take up the slack. Another weakness will be pres ent if Loyal Hurlbert is unable to get back into the good graces of his instructors. The Ord fresh man is temporarily inelegible, but there is hope that he may be free to compete when the outdoor meet rolls around. Quartermile, half rr.ile and mile relay events will suffer if Hurlbert is kept out of action. Coach Tom Botts' Missouri Tigers look to be a major force In the conference championship. With four top-notch hurdlers, sprinter Harry Guth, weight ex perts Mel Sheehan and Ed Quirk and Dirk Killough, a better-than-average 880 man, the Bengals will rate plenty of attention. The Huskers only track appear ance before the Big Six meet looms as aa inviting bit of ath letic entertainment.
