Hustlers Won Mr
The University of Nebraska
baseball squad copped a 5 to
decision from Colorado Saturday
afternoon to make a clean sweep
of the two game series between
the two clubs. The Huskers won
the opening tilt on Friday by a
10 to 0 count.
Scheef Opens for U. N.
Wally Scheef, Gretna hurler
started on the mound for the Ne
braska team, but before the game
ended Ooach Frank Smagacz had
sent five pitchers to the mound
The Buffs gathered eight hits off
the combined offerings of Scheef,
Dick Lebbs, Johnny Olson, Floyd
stork and Harold Jacob.
For five innings Lefty Art Gray
held the Huskers scoreless, but in
the last of the fifth Bill Kinna
tnon singled, advanced to second
when the Colorado center fielder
DooDiea me Dan, ana scored on
. Bob Bolen's double down the right
field foul line. Bolen scored on
Lebbs single thru shortstop.
Colorado came right back to
knot the count in the sixth as
O'Keefe, who collected three hits
during the game, singled and went
to second as Bobby Rubino
dropped the throwin from the
outfield. He scored on an infield
out. The second tally came when
Bud Crow's long fly landed just
inside the left field foul line for a
triple. He scored when Husker
third sacker, Wilbur Baack error-
ed on Kinney s ground ball.
ine scarlet batsmen kept up
their assault on Gray's teasing as
sortment of slow stuff in their
half of the' sixth. With two men
away Wes Maser singled, ad
vanced on an error and scored on
cleanup hitter Frank Brown's sin
gle. Brown stole second and then
crossed the plate as Truck Wil
liams produced his second hit of
the day.
Olson, N.R.O.T.C. pitcher from
Detroit, scored Nebraska's final
tally in the eighth as he walked,
moved to second as Gray threw
the ball away, in attempt to catch
him off base, and scored on Ru
bino's single.
Colorado added their last run in
the ninth when O'Keefe came thru
with a single after Stork had
walked two batters.
Smagacz Juggles Hurlers.
The Husker mound staff got
plenty of work, as Smagacz ex
perimented with his hurlers, while
Kinnamon, Williams and Brown

Golf Hopefuls
To Play Final
Round Today
Varsity golf coach Bud William
son has announced the pairings
for the last round of qualifying
play which will produce the Ne
braska golf team for coming in
tercollegiate competition. The
eighteen hole round will be played
this morning beginning prompt
ly at 10 at the Hillcrest Country
Club on East O Street.
Five threesomes are listed for
today's play, and the eight low
men will compose the varsity
squad for the Huskers' first match
on April 12 against Kansas Uni
versity at Lawrence.
. . Don Spomer, who won the in
tramural individual crown last
fall, paced the field in the first
round of qualifying play which
reduced the field to fifteen men.

Texas Relays
Dick Miller tied for first
place in the pole vault with a
mark of 13 feet at the Texas
Relays, run at Austin over the
week-end, according to incom
plete results received up to
press time Saturday night.
Herb Grote won second in
the javelin with a 192 foot 4
inch throw, and Don Hansen
got fourth in the shot on a 44
foot 9 7-8 inch heave.
Quartet Schedules
Fine Arts Concert
A recital by the School of Fine
Art string quartet will be pre
sented April 10, at 4 p. m. in
Temple theater.
The quartet, composed of
Emanuel Wishnow, Wilbur Price
violinists, James Nehez, violist
and Sara Davis, cellist, will be ac
companied by Earnest Harrison.
