PLACE, 7 Omaha has been a pronounced fa vorite for first honors ever since talk about the tournament began. Her followers are Just as confident as ever, but they all admit that the met ropolitans had the battle of their lives In removing University Place M Aa ,. Assi Vt - VI Left to right Middle row: Bottom row: from their path. The suburbanites have been playing strong basketball throughout the season, but the dope pointed to a clear-cut victory for Omaha in yesterday's game. Uni versity Place, which has had a habit in years past of making brilliant rec ords during the playing season and then flunking out in the tournament, put up a wonderful scrappy fight for existence this year. It was a matter of a foul goal which Patty placed in the basket when sec onds were being counted, which de cided that Omaha, runners-up for the championship last year, should sur vive the second round and square away for her next stiff game with Columbus. Up to the last three min utes, University Place led by three points, but they were unable to hold their lead.
