The University Commercial Club
will entertain the students of the
School of Commerce at a get-together
smoke at the Lincoln Commercial
Club Saturday evntng, October 9.
Chorus Registration
Chorus registration will be open
only this week. The Damrosch Orches
tra will be hero with seventy-five men,
which Is a much larger number than
last year. All members of the Chorus
will receive free admission.
Palladlan Literary Society will hold
its weekly meeting Friday evening,
October 8, in Palladlan Hall, third
floor of the Temple. Visitors will be
welcome. New students are especially
invited.
Sigma XI Meeting
The Sigma Xi will hold its first
meeting of the year Friday evening,
October 8, at the Home Economics
Building, University Farm. A good
dinner will be served by Mrs. Vinlng
at 7 o'clock. This will be followed
by a business meeting and summer

MUSICAL PROGRAMS THURSDAY
Start Series Similar to Last Year
Mrs. Raymond to Play
Organ
A series of musical programs simi
lar to that of last year will be started
next week, Thursday, at Convocation.
These will start with overtures in
stead of symphonies, with Mrs. Carrie
B. Raymond at the organ, accom
panied by the string quartet, the first
program being as follows:
Overture to Der Freischutz. .. .Weber
Overture to Figaro's Hochzeit. .Mozart
Egmont Overture Beethoven
Saturday at 3 o'clock in Art Hall.
Prof. W. F. Dann will play over these
overtures so that all who desire may
become somewhat familiar with them
before they are given in Convocation.
All who attended these meetings last
year found that they greatly increased
appreciation.

TWENTY-ONE IN TOURNAMENT

Ellis Has Been in Semi-Finals
The twenty-seven men entered in
the University tennis tournament
have fought four rounds in one divis
ion with the result that their number
is reduced to twenty-one. Th?rc-are
six rounds to be played this year.
The results of the games played
are: L. Champe defaulted to Charles
France ; N. Young defeated 1). B. Dow.
6-1 and 6-0; Art Schmidt defeated J.
V' Ravmond. 8 6 and 6-4: Taul Babson
defaulted to Burke Taylor and Taylorl
was defeated by Harry Ellis, 6-0 and
6-1; O. Chatt defeated Longsprit, 6-1
and 6-1. In the fourth round Ellis
defeated Chatt. 6-0 and S-6. Ellis is
the only man who haa played through
to the semi-finals.
