Mr. Ireland fully sustained his reputation as a warbler and was warmly applaud ed, being oncored a second tlmo. The work of the Glee Club proper horo, however, was of an unusually high order. The voices blended per fectly, and every word was distinctly onuclatod. There was a noticeable ab sonco of ragged beginnings or endings, there was no flury, but complete self possession, poise, and sympathy; and the manner in which tho men passed from tho high serious and classic to tho comic and dramatic was something unusually high class for a group of amateurs. Ono of tho first things sung was "SunBot," by a double quartette. There were somo parts of the number requiring sympathetic rendition and the way tho porformors hero got into tho feeling of tho song was something truly commendable. More difficult pieces, perhaps wore "On tho Sea" and "Annlo Laurie," but whether on tho classic production or on "a battle!" all voices kept together with perfect precision. This was probably tho greatest part of tho program but by no means the only enjoyable part. The mlnlstrel show with its full tones, catchy rag-tlmo and original, just freshly-Imported jokes servod as a good preparation for the climax, tho groat, grand, glorious and gorgeouB "operatta comique"! This minstrel show occupied but about twenty-flvo minutes while both tho other parts took up a full hour each. It Is In front bf tho hotel In Now Haven. The Nebraska boys ore put ting up within and "Cecil" Is seeing that "Cudoma" sees that the baggage comes around. Tho football -can tain gives "Cecil" a note for "Dorothy" and "Cecil," of course, transfers It to "Cud oma,'' who, of course, a little later delivers It to tho wrong girl. For a flme the shadow of a t raged v threat ens; the mascots lose their position and "Cecil" Is just about to depart on nls long, wearisome "railroad oxnldl- tion" when ho Is called back bv tho captain, who has somehow been happi ly reconciled to the blushing "Doro thy," then In comes "Cudoma." no longer tho "brainless, idiotic dub" ho once was, but a gentleman, mind you, for "two bits" will buy two chances on a policy, and 18 and 5 make 23, thank you! It all ends with a rouslne toast to old Nebraska; "all the team shout and wavo their cans, all tho "visitors" sine and "Cudoma" from his ton-Inch and "Cecil from his two-Inch tankard quaff the stuff that would make Col liers crow nalo with mortification, and tho curtain goes down. Among those deserving especial mention In this part are "Cudoma," "Cecil." "Tho Lemon." "Tho Breozv Travelling Man," and "Tho Nebraska Ulris." UNIVERSITY BULLETIN. March. Thursday 21.
