Freshman. Class Meeting.
Tho .class of 1909 Is making ready
to appear for tho first time, but owing
to natural bashfullness has decided to
oxcludo tho public frpm this apppar
anco, which might bettor be called n
rohearsal, As tho members of tho
other classes always wait anxiously
for this ovont, a howl of protest will
doubtlessly go up when It Is learned
that thoy aro not to bojxdmltted. Tho
roason for this rotlrjng attitude of the
Freshmon Is that rumors have gone
out to tho effect that tho powers that
bo, otherwise known as tho Sophs,
havo decreed that an upperclnssmah is
tho only proper person, to preside over
tho destinies of tho now liark pf state,
and have accordingly decldetl to elect
somo such fit person for tho position.
Tho Freshmen, although young, aro
not without somo glimmerings of in
telligence, however, and have con
spired' with ono Phil Haralson to tho
offect that tho hUBky John Uhl "shall
jirosldo over tho door to the hall where
tho sacred rites aro scheduled to tako
nlace, and that no ono will . bo ad
mitted unless ho bo . identified as a
genuine Freshman, 'with his name on
tho official list. Trusting in these pro
visions for their safety, tho Freshman
politicians aro going ahead in their
pursuit of power, and whenever tho
meeting occurs, it is bound to be ox
lting enough oven though the. Sopho
mores are boyond tho outer wall.
