program arranged for the piano and soug concert to be given by Mrs II H Day and Miss Hildreth Sissou at the Auditorium tomorrow evening is very excellent It is composed of selections from Weber Grieg testimonial that those who go to hear a rare musical treat will not be disap pointed Mamie Scott Roberts daughter of Mr and Mrs W W Roberts who had been sick with appendicitis for more than three weeks gave up the fight for life and quietly passed away at 1 I30 this morning On the 23th of July Mamie was 12 years old aud being au unusally bright and interesting ohild she was the hope of her parents aud a joy to those with whom she came in contact The funeral will bo held at the family residence on South Fifth street at 1 80 tomorrow afternoon conducted by Rev G H Main assisted by Dr kuowu hero having visited in Norfolk a number of times Marc G Perkins manager of tho American Press associa tion is carryiug a bullet in the side of his head as a result of a careless boy a ride and a 22 cartridge Mr Perkins with his wife aud sou were walking along Fourtieth street near Izard last evening wheu a bullet whizzed through Mrs Perkins hat and found lodgement in the side of Mr Perkins head the location of the bullet being just between tho temple aud top of the ear The wound was suoh that does not permit of the extraction of the lead but he does not suffer from tho accident aside from considerable nervousness caused by the shock A slight variation of the bullet might have resulted seriously for both Mr aud Mrs Perkins Tho boy who did the shooting was engaged in target practice though not couscious that he was using live subjects for his mark Mrs Cheney of Iowa who is visiting Mrs II E Owen was soverely injured by the upsottiug of a buggy near the postofiice last eveuiug
