In last week's issue -of - THE
DEMOCRAT several things were
said concerning the jail delivery.
Since then we have interviewed
Judge Walcott , who said : First
That he was not defending a pris
oner , but , instead , was assisting in
prosecuting one of them. Second
That when Cole phoned down
from Cody , respecting the arrest
of suspicious characters , he told
Cole to arrest them for vagrancy
and to hold them until the county
attorney returned. Our report last
week was supposed to be authentic.
If we have done Judge Walcott an
injustice we are willing11to
apologize. Sometimes what we
consider good authority proves to
be wrong.
