Meeting was called to order by President Norma Wilson. Serving protem were Pearl Myers as junior vice president and Mary Hennlngs. Ruth Por ter and Frances Hill as color bearers. Initiation ceremonies were con ducted by the officers and Mar ilyn Yingllng was accepted as a member of the Auxiliary. Balloting was conducted on reimttatement of three mem bers and Rose Day. Mae Sedlak and Elaine Steppat were rein stated into membership. Announcement was made of the department convention at Grand Island June 22-24. Dele gates elected were Mary Nel son, Soohia Wolever, Pearl My ers and Milada Uher. Norma 0 St. Homemakers EAGLE (Special) O St. Homemakers Extension1 Club met with Mrs. Maggie Stekmam Martha Dettmer and Mrs. Jesse Westlake presented the lesson. Spotlight on Milk in which they demonstrated and baked several Bacon-Cheese Pies and Raspberry Salads which were served with doughnuts and cof fee for lunch. Ten members were present. Mrs. Nina Frohllch, Mrs. Cassie Adams and Mrs. Bob Kunz were visitdrs. Mrs. Arthur Adams, the mus ic leader, led in singing of A merica The Beautiful. Next meeting will be on Flag Etioiette. Harper Reunion Honors Kaplingers Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Harper held a family reunion Friday evening at the VFW Club in honor of M-Sgt. and Mrs. Perry Kaplinger and family, who are leaving early this month for England. Their three-year assignment In England follows a six-year stay at Offutt and a previous three-year stay in England. Members of the family attend ing were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Harper and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Harper of Glenwood, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Llddick and fam ily and"the Kaplingers of Belle vue; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fit kins and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sullivan and family of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Harper and Mr. and Mrs. Jearl Rho den and family of Plattsmouth and the hosts. Unable to attend, were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wil lis and family of Plattsmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Edwards and family of Los Angeles. Reports were heard from the following chairman of projects: Sophia Wolever on membership reported 100 per cent; Ruth Bob enmoyer on cancer, reported 100 per cent, and asked that articles be brought to the pres ident to be taken to Department for the cancer table sale; Luc ille McLean reported the post and Auxiliary received first place in the state scrap book contest; Pat Baburek, on nospi tal, reoorted books had been contributed bv Betty Sell and would be taken to the Veterans Hospital, and that several mem bers assisted with the coffee hour following church services at the Veterans Hospital Sunday. Ruth Porter reported on the magazine sales held in the com munity, proceeds were voted to be used in purchasing three pairs of aluminum adjustable crutch es. Charlotte O'Donnell reported on the Jr.-Sr. Banquet and thank ed all who assisted with the din ner. Mary Bamard reported on the Commander's Bunquet held recently and on the district meet ing held in Pawnee City. Discussion was held on dish es and equipment with plans 10 be completed on use of articles by others than post and Auxil iary members. Announcement was made of the VFW Barbecue to be held June 30. Pearl Myers, youth activities chairman, reported the newly organized drill team of Junior girls is practicing. Marv Nelson reported on pop py sales with a final report to be Riven at the next meeting. Bingo was conducted by MarRe Willis and Sophia Wolever with prizes awarded to Mary Barn ard. Charlotte O'Donnell, Stella Quinnett, Mary Nelson, Ruth Porter and Ruth Bobenmoyer. Hostesses Marge Willis, Rose Abel, Jessie Porter, Charlotte O'Donnell, Ann Schubeck and Mable Menges served cookies and coffee. Mrs. Capwell's Piano Pupils Give Recital - Students of Mrs. J. A. Cap well presented a recital at the Plattsmouth High School Aud itorium Sunday evening. Mrs. Capwell's pupils gave her a corsage of yellow rose buds and a gift. Becky Beed and Priscilla Wos ter assisted at the door. Mr. and Mrs. Glen McAffee and family came Saturday to spend the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch. They, with Miss Bes sie Murdoch and the Leonard Thorne family of Union were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Murdoch and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ben son of Austin, Tex., arrived Mon day to visit Mrs. Benson's sis ter, Mrs. Martin Ross and Mr. Ross for several days. The Clar ence Ross, Elmer Ross and Ivan Hansen families visited at the Martin Ross home with the Ben sons. Tuesday evening, they at tended the music recital of Mrs. Dwight Clements's pupils at Elmwood. Debbie Ross, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross played two piano solos. The El mer Ross family, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross home with the Ben attended. Wednesday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Benson called at the Merritt Pollard, Evelyn Wolph, Oren Pollard and Mrs. Hall Pollard homes. They left for Macedon, N. Y.. to visit their daughter, Mrs. Harry Kahn and family. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wolph and Miss Evelyn Wolph joined a family group for dinner Sun day at the home of Mrs. Emily Olive of Weeping Water. Mrs. Olive's son, David and family of Lincoln and another son, George of Cannonsburg, Pa., were present. George Olive had made a trip on business to South Dakota and came by plane to spend a few hours with his, mo ther and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jorgen son's home was recently broken into and contents of drawers scattered all over the house. A pair of Mr. Jorgenson's leather boots wpre taken. It happened about 10 a. m. when Mr. and Mrs. Jorgenson were In Nehawka. 'Traveling in Europe' Was Civic Club's Banquet Theme Winterset Inn was the setting Tuesday night of the annual banquet of the Plattsmouth Women's Civic Club. The theme of the program was Traveling in Europe. Nut cups were miniature suitcases in pastel colors. The long table covered with white linen and decorated with baskets of flow ers completed the setting. Devotions were given by Mrs Hugh Startder Jr. Organ- music of favorite songs of the group was played by the organist dur ing dipner. Installation of officers was conducted by Mrs. Howard Ru- back, in a candlelight ceremony Officers installed were Mrs Don Woznlal;, president; Miss Harriet Goos, first vice presl dent: Mr3. Hugh Stander Jr., second vice president; Miss Na oml Day, secretary, and Mrs. Sophia Wolever, treasurer. The past president's pin was given to Mrs. Stander and she presented gifts to her officers. A short business session was held. Confirmation For 10 Sunday At 1st Lutheran June 2, Pentecost Sunday, 10 youths were received Into com municant membership in the First Lutheran Church at Platts mouth. The service was conduc ted by the Rev. H. G. Schuett. Friday evening, May 31, a confession of faith service was held at the church. The youths were questioned on the chief parts of Christian doctrine ol the Bible. They have been attending Bi ble study classes for the pa.?t three years In preparation for confirmation. The review con fession of faith service is a pub lic service so that members of the congregation can leam from their confession of faith that the youths have been properly in structed and are eligible for communicant membership In the church. The youths wore the tradit ional white robes and red car nation boutonnleres for both services. Members of the class were Beverly Arm Bryant, Dorothy June Gerdts, Terry Lee Glup Carl Henry Glup, Allegra Alice Hunting, Linda Ruth Jones, Lyle Frederick Mussman, Dl anne Clara Rlemer, Rodney Eugene Shropshire and Suzanne Kay Solomon. Happy Hour Club LOUISVILLE (Special) The Happy Hour Club held Its last meeting of the year with a guest luncheon at the Union Hall. The luncheon was prepared and served by the American Legion Auxiliary. Seventeen members and 18 guests were present. . The tables were - decorated with flowers and nut cups. The outgoing president, Dorothy Nes sen, gave a short tribute to the members. The new president Esther Inman, greeted all the members. Each member Intro duced her guest. Two former members were present, Esther Schneider of Colorado and Beu- lah Brunson of Margate, Fla. New committees were named for the coming year. The re mainder of the afternoon was spent viewing pictures that were aken by Mr. and Mrs. David Webb on their recent trip to j Mexico. Meetings will be resumed In September. Happy Hearts 4-H Happy Hearts 4-H Club met at Donna Manner's home. The meeting was called to order by Vlckl Halvorsen. The 4-H pledge and flag salute were said by the members. Demonstrations given were Hamburgers bv Donna Manners and Swedish Tea Ring by Ellen Robertson. Secretary Vlckl Halvorsen called the roll and read the min utes of the last meeting. Charlotte gave part of her cit izenship speech. Charlotte Is going to take Babysitting and Joan is going to take Gardening. June 20. the club will meet again at the home of Trudy and Karen McCoy. The Dutch Academy Club met at the home of Mrs. George Vogler Jr. with Mrs. Walter Salberg as co-hostess. Roll call was an swered by twelve members and one guest. The meeting opened with sing. Ing, repeating of the Club Creed and reading of the Beatitudes for Women. A Penny March was taken and a donation was given to the Helping Hands School. Alter the business meeting, the lesson on New Look In Milk was given by Edna Meisinger. A discus sion was also held on the Im portance of milk In the daily diet. There were also piano duets given by Maria Petersen and Janice Cole; Debbie and Robbie Snodgrass; Carol and Judy Cole. Mrs. Cole was presented a corsage and a ceramic planter. Sunday Dinner At Vallery Home Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vallery and sons Gene, Stephen and Billy entertained at Sunday din ner. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Grover Lorensen, Mrs. Mabel Breckenrldge and James of Weeping Water; Mrs. Kenneth Lorensen, Manley; Rev. and Mrs. Larry Vallery and daugh ters Diane and Debbie, of Don iphan. The dinner followed church services at Mynard E:t'B"-wh(re Rev. Vallery was guest speak er. He is pastor of the Doniphan Church. The Vallery family came from Doniphan Thursday and will be here until Friday. Injuries Here Mrs. Robert O. McLeod, wife of Rev. McLeod of the First Un ited Presbyterian Church here, was Injured, not seriously, along with their daughter, Joye, 14, In a three-car accident Thursday about 9:15 a. m. at the Junction of the U. S. 73-75 By-Pass and Avenue B (Cemetery Road). Also Involved were cars driv en by Frank D. Meyer, Offutt AFB, 20, and Mrs. R. C. Meis.s ner. Omaha, 67. The Sheriff's Office Investigated. Mrs. Mary Nelson, chapeau, presided at the business session with all officers In attendance. Mrs. Mary Gobelman, histor ian, announced that reports and pictures of officers are to be submitted for the departmental history and local book. Discussion was held on en dorsement of a partner for Area B deml-chapeau. Ethel Strabel was elected as a candidate to be sponsored by the Cass County Salon. Chapeau Mary Nelson appoin ted Elsie Schutz, Minnie Schi ber and Emma Cappell to serve on the nominating committee for election of officers for the ensuing year. The election is to be held at the June meeting. Reports were given by Child Welfare Chairman Vera Warga, Partnership Chairman Mary Gobelman, Publicity Chairman Sophia Wolever and Scrap Book Chairman Ethel Strabel. The July meeting will be held at the home of Helen Gayer In Papillion, with a covered dish dinner preceding the meeting. A social hour followed the meeting. Prizes at games went to Abble Wiseman, Helen Gay er, Mary Gobelman, Mary Nel son, Elsie Schutz, Emma Cap pell, Violet Attebery. Susie Cook, Ethel Strabel, Minnie Schlber and Emily Oonzales.
