CASEY, Attorney Plattsmouth, Nebraska NOTICE OF FINAL SETTLEMENT IN THE COUNTY COURT OF CASS COUNTY, NEBRASKA To all persons Interested In the estate of Keener I. Price deceased. No. 5244: Take notice that the Administratrix of said estate has filed her final report and a petition for examination and allowance of her accounts, determination of heirship, and distribution of said estate and for her discharge, which will be heard before said Court on June 18th, 1963 at ten o'cloc a.m. Dated May 28th, 1963. (SEAL) Raymond J. Case County Judge No. 628' May 30, June 6, 13, 1963. Cancer Fund (Continued from Page One) it to Plattsmouth State Bank. The co-chairmen today said about Cancer; Too many people think of can cer as a disease tnav. striKes only adults, especially older men and women. This belief is one of the heartbreaking tragedies in handling cancer in children. The fact is that cancer is the leading cause of death from dis ease among school children. Some 4,800 will die of It this vear if present rates continue. And the death rate from child hood cancer has increased from 5.2 for each 100,000 population to 8.1 during the last 30 years. One of the problems in deal ing with childhood cancer is the unhappy fact that too many of the cancers are treated too late. Physicians tell us that an In creasing number of five, ten. twenty-year and even lifetime survivals show that treatment when started sufficiently early can often preserve life. If more parents realized that children do get cancer and if they acted promptly in seeking medical advice more children could be saved. Improved tech niques in radiology and surgery offer new opportunities for sur vival and possible cure. Even fr- leukemia, cancer or the blood-forming tissue, which is the most critical cancer prob lem among children, there Is a promise of hope. Newly - dev eloped drugs make It possible to extend the lives of many leu kemia patients from months to years of useful life. Now there is growing evidence linking vir uses as a possible cause of leu kemia. If this should be found to be true, then a vaccine might be developed. The conquest of leukemia alone would eliminate the tragic loss of life of over 2,300 children each year. The American Cancer Society Is investing many thousands of dollars each year in research on cancer in children. They are putting more funds Into leukem ia research than in ar.y other group. Now is no time to slack en this research errort. instead, It should be stepped up. Bear this in mind when the Ameri can Cancer Society asks you to make a contribution to the 1963 Cancer Crusade.
