The Seniors spent a day In Lincoln, ft Government trip. The Juniors were especially busy planning and carrying out their .line Banquet and Prom for the Seniors. The Seniors who are student library assistants made -splendid use of their time with tataloging the last Of this year's library books, fixing attractive Bulletin Boards. The Juniors " fixed two Posters for the Library displaying caps and gowhs and graduation time, one with the caption, "Congratulations, Sen iors!" The first week In May was the beginning of Family Week, and Child Health Month. Honors Convocations were held for the Junior High, as well as for the Senior High. Principal York and Mrs. Stewart were the Inter- Room Original Oratory Junior High Judges, to select the seven highet scoring winners to com pete in the Community contest which was to be held at the Gym, last Thursday evening. - The Librarian and Library As sistants have been especially busy checking books In and storing for the summer, the books and magazines. All the students have assisted in a splendid way, but bouquets are in order for outstanding help and assistance for Mary Ballain and Pat Jordan, Juniors; Seniors who perhaps should have achieved recognition were: Mary Hendrix, Rheda Boardman, JoAnn Major, ray Oarrlnger, and for the first semester, Connie Gwahen and Shirley Westead. Kathy Long, a Freshman, has been very capable for the short time she hag as sisted, the past quarter year. The use of the Library for the month of May Is as follows: Books on Biography, Litera ture, government, science, his tory, Applied Science, languages, Music, Sport, etc 476 Reference books, as Encylope dtas, Almanacs, Atlases, Abridged Readers' Guide, Dic tionaries, Twentieth Century Au thors, Who's Who, Sears, Dewey, Standard Catalog, Douglas Handbook 833 Fiction 487 Magazines 1254 Total 3050 The totals for the nine months' school year is as fol lows: Books on the first section as for each month 7774 Books used for Reference Work 7178 Fiction and Short Story Col lections 3995 Magazines 14063 Grand Total 42758 The Library Staff wishes to thank each and every one for a wonderful year, and trust that the usefulness of the Platts mouth High School Library will Cornhusker Bid (Continued from Page One) ting three of the smaller dis tricts from its bid. Callers on Mr. atid Mrs. Frank Hurlbut Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Otto and Marlin, Mrs. William Lehman and Helen of Ithaca. Mrs. A. J. Leadabrand attend ed the graduation exercises of her cousin Sonja Anderson Thursday evening. Mrs. A. J. Leadabrand pre sented two trophies and four medals to speech winners at Honors Night at Papllllon High School. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Per shing entertained about 30 gu ests at their home In honor of their son Joe's graduation after graduation Thursday evening. Mr, and Mrs. Blllie Schuelke attended the graduation exercis es at Waverly Thursday eve ning. Johnny Schuelke was a mong the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Woltzel attended the graduation of Vir ginia Schuelke at Waverly Thurs day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Turley Wall at tended the Spring Concert at Plus High School Friday eve ning. Their granddaughter, Llla Jo, was in the concert. Mrs. Walter Wolteel was a guest of Mrs. LcRoy Haertel at the Mother-Daughter Banquet at the Lutheran Church In Ash land May 27. Mrs. Mabel Lambert, Willis Lambert and Mr. and Mrs. Wil son Lambert and boys were Sunday supper guests of Mrs. H. B. Nelson of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Don McDonald of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests at the Roy Tennant home. James Leadabrand visited ov er the weekend ,at the Francis Fulton home In Brownvllle. Marilyn Carpenter was hon ored for her birthday at supper at her home Sunday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Qua Brakhage, Sharon Hendrix and Curt Jones of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Persh ing and Joe attended the alum ni banquet at Waverly Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Love and Miss Alaura O'Rourke attended the graduation exercises at Ne braska Tech at Milford Wednes day. LeRoy Love received his diploma for Diesel Technology. Mrs. Roy Love and LeRoy attended the graduation of Mar lin Otto at Ceresco and the graduation of Sharon Blum at Millard Thursday. Bailey King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey King, underwent an appendectomy at St. Elizabeth Hospital Tuesday and returned home Sunday. Willing Workers The Willing Workers 4-H Club met at the home of Cheryl Strat ton. The meeting was called to order by president, Barbara Zie rott. Twelve members answered roll call by "A way to help my mother." Cheryl Stratton gave a demon stration on how to make the "Waldorf Salad" In "Meal Plan ning II." In "Let's Sew," the girls dis cussed how to make an apron. A discussion was held In "Skirt and Blouse" on making a blouse. Next meeting will be held at the home of Janice Klemme June 19 at 1:30.
