' Fat attle sold 25-50C lower, quite a number of heifers slip ping by with only a quarter break, but numerous steers, and especially those 1150 pounds up, were a half-dollar off. Hiyh choice to prime steers weighing 1236 sold at $23; fed heifers : weighing 929 also reached $23. Other steers, yearlings and hel- fers were bracketed at $21 $22.75, plainer cattle $20.50 , down. Cows sold steacy, bulk $13 $16.50, a few to $17. Replacement cattle sales In cluded good to choice 525-pound stock steers at $28, choice 727- pound feeder steers at $27.73 and several droves of steers weighing 785-1000, most of these showing grain, at $21-$23; also 825-pound Hoisteln feeder steers at $19. Good to choice 410- pound heifer calves went at $26.50. (In Omahas first Spring feed er cattle auction, held last Fri day, prices were mostly steady. ! The circular, EC 63-130 con tains latest Information on the effective ways to control vari ous weeds baaed on University of Nebraska Agricultural Ex periment Station tests. Sections in the circular in clude recommendations for pie plant preemergence and post emergence weed control in field crops. Other iections Include recommendations for controlling weeds in pastures, non-crop areas, lawns and other areas. Her topic was Easter Thoughts. Miss VW)lph presented: Barbara Chandler, who read her poem, Footprints en the S.inds of Time. She won first In the state contest and second In the national contest on the poem. Ruth Miller, who spoke for her sister, Joy Miller, explained her essay on the same topic. Joy won first in the state and re ceived honorable mention In the national contest. Joy was 111 and not able to attend. Both girls were sponsored by tre Jonathan Cass chapter. Miss Wolph was chairman. Miss Wolph gave the devo tions. Miss Esther Tcfft, pre sided in the absence of Mrs. D wight Cook, who Is hospital ized.
