Mrs. Truman Lytle is the sponsor. June Slander brought her f'iump collection and Twyla Cooper brought her stuffed dog and cat collection and these were viewed and discussed. Marlene Meyer presided, Julia Mitchell called the roll and read the minutes. The Girls received a thank you frum Mrs. Nutter for the gift the Scouts had sent her for help ing them with their speech pro gram. Barbara Mayfield served refreshments. " fri- r -' J'1 m i i ii ii ii iiiniini -n-rS -" WINTER TOMATO PLANTS are scarce in ruttsmnuih but this one, brought to Bill Williamson's dry cleaning plant by Mary Holy as a tiny seeding last tall has been nourished and watered by Bill until it has reached a height of between four and five feet. For weeks it bloomed but since there were no bees or other insects to assist in the pollenization no fruit appeared. He hand pol lonized the blossoms with a toothpick to assist nature and now a number of tomatoes are growing on the plant, the largest, in the center of the picture measures about 2 inches in diameter. Sunday afternoon an Open House was held at the fine school building In Elmwood in j honor of the 40th wedding an- niversary of Mr. and Mrs. Char-! les Marshall. Their son Clark 1 sang "I Love You Truely'' fol lowed by "The Story of Your Life" which brought out manyj pait events. The former Merwin- j na Kampman played a violin number, Howard Pool was an nouncer of the program. Clark sang "The Holy City" accom panied by his wife as a closing number. In the afternoon the ladies all atttend ed a shower in Murdock for Mary Weisheit. Evening callers of the Fred Weisheit Sr. home were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wendt. Dr. Knosp is in Chicago this week attending a convention. Mrs. Knosp accompanied him. Mrs. Grace Blessing waa a dinner guest on Thursday of Mrs. Alfa Quellhorst. Mr. Carl Walker and daugh ter of Sewall, la. and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Paap of Dunbar, were Sat. P.M. callers at Mrs. Mamie Millers. The purpose was to divide the proceeds from the Beau tena Royal Show among clubs and breeders. The Cheery Challengers' calf was furnished by Abel Dairy farm ar.d Jerry Eichmeier is manager.
