The first Junior High Night is set for Friday, April 26. Another special event will be a "Name the Center" contest. A prize will be awarded to the winning entry. You'h Center nights for April Include: the 6th, Kith, 26th, and 27th. Minnie Parker Dies at 101; Funeral Tuesday Minnie Roseta Parker, 101, Weeping Water, died Saturday. She was born Nov. 28, 1861 In West Union, Iowa, daughter of Ellas and Nancy Jenkins Comp ton. She was married to FrfnkiTn P. Parker Dec. 19. 1981. He pre ceded her In death In 1820. Surviving children are Mrs. Ruth Morgan, Pasedena, Calif., Mrs. Ida N. Cotner, Plattsmouth, Mrs. Ina P. Oldlcy, Cre.ston, Iowa, Harry W. Parker. Idaho Falls, Idaho; 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 46 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Parker came to Weeping Water 60 years ago from Atlan tic, Iowa. She was a member of United Missionary Church, Weeping Water. Funeral services will be Tues day at 10 a.m. at the Hobson Dorr Funeral Home who Is In charge of arrangements. Rev. C. W. Severn will officiate. Burial will be in Oak wood Cemetery, Weeping Water. Choral Group Will Return To Plattsmouth Plattsmouth Chamber of Com merce announced this week a return ensagement of the Army Air Defense Command Choral Group that proved so popular here in a show presented more than a year ago. Date for the return engage ment Is set for Friday evening, June 7, at 8 o'clock in the High School Auditorium. There Is no admission charge. The entire musical program Is presented free as a public service by ARADCOM. While leaders of the Choral Group were well pleased with their reception here last year, hundreds of local people were disappointed In failing to attend this outstanding vocal show. Many failed to realize that this group Is made up of profession al talent, both vocal and instru mental. They have appeared at the Seattle World's Fair, on the Bell Telephone Hour and on all major television networks, in addition to making hundreds of public appearances at State Fairs. Plattsmouth Chamber of Com merce, assisted by the Ameri can Legion, arc honored to again be selected as hosts for this outstanding organization. They are certain this group will play to a full house on this en gagement, a program that con tinues for two hours and all free. ' Commission Meets The County Board of Commis sion met today at the Courthouse for Equalization and for its reg ular first meeting of April. Last week at a special meet ing, the Commission decided that in the future the County will do its own bridge work. Today, the Board organized as a Board of Equalization, naming Commission Chairman Harold Gregg, Pla'.tsmouth, as chair man. Requests, for hearings before the Board of Equalization should be made as soon as possible. Forms are available at the Of fice of County Clerk. The dead line Is May 10. Polls Open 3 to Plattsmouth city and school district voters will go to the polls Tuesday to elected four City Councllmen and two members of the Board of Education. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Councilmen are to be elected one each from four wards for two-year terms. The candidates: For Fred Fischer Fred T. Sheriff's Office In Courthouse The Sheriff's Office is now located In the County Court house and Sheriff Fred Tr.sch and his family are living in the County Jail building In the quar ters formerly occupied by the Sheriffs Office. She holds an AB in English and history and an MA Degree in history; a Ne braska permanent high school certificate and professional sec ondary school certificate. She did graduate work at the University of Colorado at Bould er and the Omaha University; taught in the McCook High School, McCook, Neb. and was Dean of Womens' Residence Halls in the University of Ne braska at Lincoln. She taught Naval Reserve Midshipman's School, , Smith College, Northampton, Mass.; served five years as an officer in the United States Navy. Mrs. Ledgway Clerk of Court By Appointment The Cass County Board of Commissioners today appointed Mrs. Helen Ledgway Clerk of the District Court here to fill out the term of her late husband, C. E. Ledgway, who died Tues day. Her appointment was effective today. Mrs. Ledgway served several years as deputy clerk and was deputy at the time of Mr. Ledg way's death. '1 I I J Two School Board members will be elected for three-year terms on the six-member Board. Maxine Cloidt is a candidate for re-election, and is now serv ing on the Board. Russell Nielsen, a former Board member, seeks election again. Seeking first terms are Fred Fischer and Harold Edwards. He Is mar ried and the Coles have two daughters. Cole is a 1945 graduate of Plattsmouth High School. He is a veteran of World War 2 and a member of the American Legion and the Eagles. He Is a home owner. SECOND WARD Robert Aspedon Robert Aspedon, Democrat, is a candidate for re-election to the Council after serving a one-year term. He Is owner of Plattsmouth Paint Store, has lived here 13 years. Aspedon is a former member of the City Park Board and member of the American Le gion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Odd Fellows. He is a Volunteer Fireman. Aspedon owns his home. Carl E. Tiekotter Carl Tiekotter Sr., 40, Is the Republican candidate lor Sec ond Ward Councilman. He was born and reared in Plattsmouth and for many years has been in the bulldii'.g and contracting business. He Is a P'attsmouth High graduate, served in the Air Force In World War 2 and the Korea Conflict. Tiekotter Is married and has two sons, Carl Jr. and Steven. He was elacted County Sur veyor In 1958 but declined the office. He is a home owner. Carl C. Meisinger, 68, Omaha, Dies; Funeral Tuesday Carl C. Meisinger, 68, of Omaha, longtime Plattsmouth resident, died Sunday at an Omaha Hospital after a long ill :icss. Funeral services will be Tues day at 2 p.m. at Sattlcr-Fussel-man-Perry Funeral Home with the Kev. James Stroh of St Paul's United Chinch of Christ officiating.
