March 28, 1963 Club Plans 50th Celebration AVOCA (Special) Avoca Woman's Club met with Mrs. George Allen Wednesday in the church parlors. Mrs. Charles Marshall led devotions. In the election of officers the following were elected: Presi dent, Mrs. Eldon Ahrens; vice president, Mrs. Henry Dank leff; secretary, Mr. Ernest Nor ris; treasurer, Mrs. Robert Hallstrom. Plans were made for the 50th anniversary of the club at the April meeting. There was a display of art work frcm the school, of which Mrs. Fred Marquardt and Mrs. Ernest Norris were in charge. Dr. H. K. Sheets To Speak Here Dr. H. K. Sheets, General Su perintendent of the Wesleyan MethodUt Church, will bring the message in the eleven o'clock worship service Sunday, March 31 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church located at 619 So. 10th St. in Plattsmouth. Dr. Sheets will be holding spe cial services the first week of April in the Nebraska Confer ence. He will present the needs of the Church Extension and Evan gelism Dept. of the Denomina tion. A. rally for the Eastern District will be held Friday. April 5th at 8 p.m. at the new First Wesleyan Methodist Church in Omaha. The public is invited to attend these services. NEHAWKA NEWS Mr. F. 0. Mrs. Marlene Critser and son Danny, Mrs. Dorothy Eaton and Darlene of Omaha visited the Jerry Harsh man family at the Wilmer Har shman home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. George McFadden of Lin coln joined them for dinner at the Lacy home Saturday. Other callers Friday were Mrs. Er nest Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Oanzel. Mrs. George Kime, Mrs. Wrri. Hubbell, Joyce and Peggy vis ited recently with Mrs. Kime's mother, Mrs. Henry Welch and son John of Hamburg, Iowa. Mrs. Helen Walters of St. Louis, Mo., came Friday for an extended visit with Mrs. Doris Pollard. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warden were called to St. Joe, Mo.,, on Tuesday by the serious illness of her father, Elmer Cornell. He died Tuesday evening. Fl day, Mr. and Mrs. Warden, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cornell and Mrs. Maude Cornell of Union and Richard Cornell of Lincoln attended the funeral service at St. Joe. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warden and sons have moved to the farm which they purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Victor Ross. Mrs. Emily Olive and Miss Esther Tefft of Weeping Wa ter and Miss Evelyn Wolph were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Giles of Platts mouth at Winterset Inn. Moyer home in Nebraska City Thursday afternoon. Martin D. Jorgenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jorgenson, has been assigned to the ship USS Bon Homme Richard. His new address is: Martin D. Jor genson GMCM, USS Bon Hom me Richard, CVA, 31 FPO San Francisco, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jorgenson took their dinner and a birth day cake to the Elmer Haffke home Friday to be with their granddaughter, Sherry, who was 14 Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John Barkhurst, Beverly and Joyce were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barkhurst Wednesday when Mr. Harvey Barkhurst celebrated bis birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Arlln Rexinger and Mark of Lincoln spent the weekend with the John Buch cz family. Mrs. Clara Leach, Mrs. Ernest Bucholz of Omaha visited Tuesday at the John Bucholz home and Mrs. Herman Bucholz who had spent two months there returned to Om aha with them. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fulton and family of Liberty were Tues day visitors at the Robert Bat es home. Their son, Wayne, returned home with them after visiting his grandparents for several days. Wesley Fulton spent the week at the Bates home and returned with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bat es, to Liberty when' they csmf for the weekend. Mrs. Maurlne Wolph visited at the "home of Evelyn Wolph Friday.
